Play and Rewind
Play and Rewind is an attempt at reclaiming a physical experience in this digital world. The materiality of the obsolete technology is emphasized and juxtaposed with industrial materials. As the videotape unwinds the television below plays a recording of the tape being rewound by hand.

In a world full of digital convenience and virtual experiences I seek something physical to hold on to. Modern technology offers us an escape from the pain and suffering of our lives. These virtual bubbles we create numb the pain and distract us from reality. This piece is an absurd performance that depicts an attempt at regaining a physical experience amidst the computer age. I am seeking a meditative experience through the materiality of technology.
On display at the Moss Art Center from May 2nd - 15th, 2016.
Recording of me rewinding the roll of videotape. This video is played on the TV below the unwinding videotape.
